What is SSIP?

TÜV UK Ltd is a Certification Body Member of SSIP – Safety Systems in Procurement

SSIP is an umbrella organisation, supported by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), facilitating mutual recognition between over 20 existing health and safety pre-qualification schemes such as CHAS, SafeContractor, Exor, NHBC, and Altius where practicable. For a full list of applicable schemes and more information check out SSIP website.

How would SSIP benefit my organisation?

If your organisation is construction-related, (e.g. you act as Principle Contractor / Contractor / Principal Designer / Designer or any other kind of supplier) and holds a valid ISO 45001 SSIP certificate with TÜV UK Ltd., it will be registered on the SSIP web portal and considered “Deemed to Satisfy” the H&S requirements of SSIP Registered Members. You may have to be assessed by many pre-qualification schemes – a significant cost in time and money; however if you are registered with SSIP via 18001 certification with TÜV UK Ltd, you shouldn't need to fill in further Stage 1 H&S questionnaires.

Currently in excess of 75,000 suppliers are registered with an SSIP Member Scheme and this information is readily accessible via the SSIP web portal which is free to access and provides an easy way of finding out if a supplier holds valid certification with an SSIP member scheme and confirms compliance with the SSIP Core Criteria and UK H&S Legislation.

What does it cost?

There is very little difference in the auditing and certification processes between standard 45001 and 45001 with SSIP certification; therefore, depending on the organisation, we may only need to consider a modest annual administration fee.

Already have ISO 45001 with another Certification Body?

We can arrange a transfer to an SSIP certificate following a successful audit by one of our SSIP trained assessors.

Considered 45001 certification?

OHSAS 18001 was replaced by ISO 45001 in the 1st half of 2018; it follows the “High Level Structure” of 9001 and 14001:2015 standards, facilitating seamless management system integration. ISO 45001 embodies all the principles and prestige of 18001 but is less prescriptive with changes of emphases, new and updated concepts for the modern era.

ISO 45001 is the internationally recognised Standard for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems and will identify your company as a stand-out prestige organisation to do business with.

Certification to this Standard demonstrates that your organisation promotes a healthy and safe working environment by providing a framework that allows it to consistently identify and control its health and safety risks, reduce the potential for accidents, aid legislative compliance and continually improve overall performance.
